TRIVIUM Frontman: METALLICA's HAMMETT 'Loves' Our New Album
June 27, 2006The following item was submitted by Jakob Kranz of Radio Fritz's (web site) "Stahlwerk" show:
"TRIVIUM just finished their clubshow in Germany at the KaTo Club. It was sold out completely, and dozens of fans had to be sent away. One year ago only 50 people attended... TRIVIUM called it 'The hottest show we ever played' (we got about 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Germany at the moment). They played one new song and a few cover songs, including one third of 'Master of Puppets' (METALLICA),'Symphony of Destruction' (MEGADETH) and a part of 'Du Hast' by RAMMSTEIN.
"Got a chance to talk to Matt Heafy [TRIVIUM frontman] and ask some questions about beeing 'true' and the upcoming album 'The Crusade' (out this autumn)
"About trueness in metal and the fight between the old and the new school, he replied, 'There is no fight. We do not want to be part of the so called New Wave of American Heavy Metal. This has been swept away 18 months ago.'
"I was asking him about the vintage shirts they wear (Matt wore an 'Kill 'Em All' shirt, Corey Beaulieu a LIZZY BORDEN shirt). Matt said, 'I know a few good shops, especially in Japan. For some of them, I paid 90 bucks.'
"[With regards] to the upcoming album, he said, 'It's done. We wrote it almost on the road, and I sent a copy to Kirk [Hammett, METALLICA guitarist]. He loves it."
TRIVIUM's third album, "The Crusade", was mixed by Colin Richardson for a tentative October 10 release via Roadrunner Records (one day earlier internationally). A European tour with IRON MAIDEN will follow in November/December, with plans for a European headlining trek in the spring.
